HOLY BODY DOUBLE… AND THE REAL SUE IS HITTING THE ROAD! 

Well, apparently the real Sue Duffield is going back on the road. No body double available. After a summer that included enough health issues, doctor visits, blood work, iron supplements and medical vocabulary to qualify me for at least an honorary nursing degree, I’m grateful to say—we’re packing the bags and heading north!

I’m still working on stamina, but I’ve learned something this summer: sometimes healing is less like a miracle sprint and more like watching your phone charge at 2%. You KNOW something is happening…you just wish it would happen faster. Thank you for praying for me through it all. And I’d especially appreciate your prayers now for stamina, strength and safety as we travel and minister.

Speaking of somebody else doing the work for you… The latest Suebiquitous Podcast starts with the hilarious story of a pastor’s wife who supposedly found a woman who looked just like her—and PAID HER to attend church in her place! Her stand-in sat in the pew, greeted people, took sermon notes and even hugged the husband.

Now hold on. You can sit through the sermon for me, but hugging Jeff requires a separate contract. Funny story—but there’s a deeper question underneath it: How often do we send a “body double” into our own spiritual lives? Our body is in the pew, but our heart stayed home. We know when to stand, sit, sing and say “Amen,” but somewhere along the way we can become very good at appearing faithful instead of authentically showing up before God. God doesn't want the church version of you.

He wants YOU. The tired you. The questioning you. The still-healing you. The “Lord, I don't understand this” you. No stand-ins required.

Jeff and I are looking forward to being back at America's Keswick for Young At Heart Week, followed by the Labor Day Family Weekend. After several months away from singing and traveling, I’m especially grateful to get behind a microphone again—and hopefully remember which end to sing into.

We’ll also be ministering Sunday morning, August 30th, at Lacey Christian Assembly in Forked River, New Jersey. We would LOVE to see our Jersey friends!

Thank you for continuing to pray for us—especially for traveling mercies, stamina, strength and effective ministry. I never take those prayers lightly. This summer has reminded me again that sometimes God slows us down, restores us, teaches us—and then says, “Okay. Get your shoes on. It’s time to go again.” And I’m ready. Well…the spirit is ready. The hemoglobin is still checking its calendar.
